Short description:
Locates and tracks items in a defined area (several acres). Uses 3 or more "anchor points" to locate the position of any tag within the area defined by the anchor points. Tags must be low cost, but the anchor points can be $100+ each.

The concept is to have 3 or more anchor points (aka: base stations, location servers, ...) that will triangulate the position of one or more "tags" that can be mounted to nearly anything larger than about 3 square inches. The tags should be cheap to construct ($25 or $30 apiece), and you should be able to have 100 or more tags in an area circumscribed by the 3 anchor points.
The initial concept occurred at FarmHack Intervale/Essex in 2012.
